Divination

Divination, or the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown through supernatural means, has been used by many cultures throughout history. The methods and techniques used for divination vary widely, but common forms include:

  • Astrology: the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies, and their supposed influence on human affairs.
  • Augury: the practice of interpreting omens from the natural world, such as the behavior of birds or the flight of insects.
  • Omens: interpreting signs, symbols or events that are believed to foretell the future
  • Numerology: interpreting the significance of numbers, often in relation to a person’s name or birthdate
  • Palmistry: interpreting the lines and features of a person’s palm in order to predict their future
  • Scrying: gazing into a reflective surface, such as a crystal ball or water, in order to receive visions or messages from the spirit world
  • Tarot: using a deck of cards to gain insight into the past, present, and future

Divination has been practiced in many ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians, Babylonians, and Greeks, and continues to be used today in many different forms.
